Disco Elysium

Curiosity got the better of me and I ended up replaying Disco Elysium few more times to go through all political routes and Steam achievements.

I enjoyed the slight differences in storyline coming from failed/successful dice rolls, and I loved to get to know Kim better. Though choosing shitty actions and extremist talking lines was just… painful. Much respect for it actually being implemented in the game – that spewing traditionalist garbage at some point start to hurt your own mental health.

Speaking of which, dismissing Harry’s intrusive thoughts and not allowing him to wallow in self pity and past mistakes did feel kind of healing. So did the silly moments with Kim. And so did the sarcastic remarks from other characters and the game itself.

Also, I came to appreciate the don’t-label-me stance the most. (Opting out whenever allegiance was offered.) Since I embraced my role as a detective and focused on the jobs at hand more than announcing opinions to everyone I meet, it allowed me to to make the better choices. I didn’t have to make roleplay choices based on “what would this Harry do?” but actually make decisions that I thought were best for the situation we were at. If that gets me labelled a boring cop moralist, I am fine with it.
